Elections are held in November of odd number years. Board members must own property and live in the RD 1000 District. Only property owners in Natomas vote in the election that is conducted under the rules of the California Water Code for Reclamation Districts. For residents within the district wanting to run during an election season, nominating papers are available at the District office and must be submitted by a specified date preceding an election. Three of the Board seats are "parcel seats" with one vote per parcel for each of the three seats. The other four Board seats are "assessment seats" where votes for each parcel are weighted by the amount of assessment for that particular parcel.
The Election of Trustees of Reclamation District No. 1000 (District) is governed by the California Water Code Section 50730 et seq. Elections are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November in each odd-numbered year.
