Nick Avdis has served on the Reclamation District Board of Trustees since November of 2013.

Nick and his wife operate a small scale, grass fed beef ranch in the Natomas area where they are raising their children along with a menagerie of animals, a natural endeavor, as Nick grew up on a ranch in Natomas that his family has owned for close to 80 years.

An attorney by profession, Nick specializes in land use and general real estate law. He is currently Of Counsel to the Thomas Law Group in Sacramento. Nick received his law degree from the University of California, Davis in 2003 and also received his Bachelor of Arts from UC Davis in 2000. He has been recognized by California Lawyer magazine as a “Rising Star” for eight consecutive years, beginning in 2009.

His community work is also reflective of his dedication to the Natomas community. Besides serving on the Board of Trustees of Reclamation District 1000, Nick is on the County of Sacramento, Natomas Community Planning Advisory Council (CPAC), representing the interests of Natomas residents in the development planning process, and is President of the Valley View Acres Community Association.

In March of 2014 Nick was appointed to the Sacramento Transportation Authority. The STA is primarily responsible for administering the Measure A program, the Sacramento Metropolitan Freeway Service Patrol program. The STA Governing Board and staff also serve as the Governing Board and staff of the Sacramento Abandoned Vehicle Service Authority. The STA is the only local countywide transportation agency and, as such, provides a number of other functions related to setting priorities for the expenditure of specified state and federal transportation funds in Sacramento County.
